The sprawling building spread over 20,000/Sq meter in two phases, houses state-of-the-art labs, equipped with the latest machineries, training aids, gymnasium and recreation room, a muticuisine cafeteria, first aid room etc. The lecture rooms/Seminar halls/Auditorium are spacious, well ventilated and fitted with audio-visual teaching aids that offer an ideal ambience for educational pursuits. The Library air conditioned is stocked with Textbooks/Magazines covering a wide range of subjects continuously updated to make it the most contemporary. In short the college has set benchmark standards that others would be proud to emulate.
It is spread over a beautiful lush green stretch of land spanning over 8/ 10.5 acres providing an ideal atmosphere for calm and peaceful academic pursuit. The college has a well planned campus, aesthetically designed buildings, well furnished class rooms, lecture theatres, excellent library, workshops, separate hostels for men and women, a fleet of buses for transporting students from and to the college and many more facilities. The college is approved by AICTE New Delhi, and affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai.
There are separate hostels for men and women within the campus itself. The management fixes the room rent and establishment charges reasonably. Laundry facility is also available to the students on chargeable basis. A fully qualified Medical Attendant is available at the campus. Medical and hospital facilities are available at Pandur and the cost of the same would have to be met by the students. Mess and Canteen facility is available for the inmates at reasonable rates.
Students should have at least 3 sets of workshop and laboratory uniform. The prescribed uniform is dark blue full pants and light blue half sleeve shirt and canvas shoes for workshop. Students should wear white overcoats for the electronic related laboratories. Footwear, bags, floppies, CDs, pen drive etc. are not permitted inside the computer laboratory. The students reporting without proper prescribed dress will not be permitted to enter the workshops/laboratories. All Civil Engineering students are required to buy one county cap for surveying work. Women students are advised to tie up their hair while working inside the labs/workshops.
The library is the focal point and nerve centre of any educational complex, more so in the case of a professional college. The college library is well equipped, with more than 25,000 technical books and a large number of Indian and Foreign technical journals and periodicals besides a good collection of light reading materials. The following facilities are now added. Students can access audio-video information in the library (Videos, CD ROMS, etc). An integrated library system (LIBSYS) software is used in almost all activities in the areas of acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials control, articles indexing & abstracting OPAC and union catalogue. All library activities are computerized using the latest technology. Students and staff are provided with bar coded identity cards to avail the facilities of the computerized library. Issue and return of library books are done from 9.00 a.m to 4.30 p.m. Any theft of material (books/journals/magazines/CD/video) will result in strict disciplinary action. IIET is a member of British Council library and Anna University Library. The students and faculty members can utilize the facility any time during the year. Failure to comply with the return dates for the books borrowed will attract penalties.
Day scholars, hostel students, educators and other faculty members can access the multi-cuisine canteen. Wholesome and delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is offered. The management has taken care to ensure that the highest standards of hygiene are maintained at all times. A water treatment plant has been installed to supply treated purified water. A Canteen supervisory committee operates round-the-clock to oversee all operations -- from purchase of vegetables to cooking and serving and the cleaning of utensils.
Well-maintained omni buses fly between various strategic points in Chennai to the College Campus for the convenience of students and staff members at nominal cost. Free transportation is offered to students and staff from Thiruvallur station to the college and back, the buses operating as per fixed schedule. The institution employs a number of trained mechanics and the buses are subject to regularly scheduled preventive maintenance servicing to avoid any mishaps. The measure of their efficiency is reflected by the fact that not a single breakdown was reported in the last six months operations. Air conditioned coaches are available for the senior faculty members.
